Here at Motor Assured Limited (“MAL”) the Customer’s experience is at the core of what we do and at the center of who we are.
We recognize and understand that privacy is of paramount importance to all customers who engage in the use of digital platforms for the purpose and goods and services. And that’s why we are committed to maintaining the privacy of the personal data provided by you our valued customers.
This Privacy Policy sets out how and why your personal data is collected, and your rights in relation to the same. This policy applies to our website and all social media accounts.
PERSONAL DATA
For the purpose of this section “Personal Data” refers to the information which relates to you, and which can be used to directly or indirectly identify you as a living individual or an individual who has been deceased for less than 30 years.
Once in possession of your personal data, we ensure that we comply with the applicable data protection laws when handling your information. Your personal data will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act of Jamacia 2020.
WHO IS MAL:
Motor Assured Limited (“MAL”) is the Caribbean’s first and only digital motor vehicle extended warranty provider. We take immense pride in delivering value-added products within the motor vehicle ownership eco-system. Like you we understand the importance of your motor vehicle and the impact it has when not performing optimally so we decided to do something about it. The customers’ experience is at the centre of what we do. We are committed to delivering products that will satisfy their needs whilst exceeding expectations.
MAL is the holder of your personal data based on the terms outlined in our User Terms of Service Policy and the Data Protection Act of Jamaica 2020 (“DTAJ 2020”).
WHAT INFORMATION IS COLLECTED:
We process various categories of personal data, based on the nature of the business engaged. The personal data we process about you may include but is not limited to:
- Your name
- Residential and other postal address(es)
- Phone number(s)
- Card Information
- Email address
- Motor Vehicle Details
All the data collected by MAL shall be deemed as personal. MAL does not engage in the collection of sensitive data as is defined under the DTAJ2020.
HOW IS YOUR INFORMATION COLLECTED:
The primary source of the data collected is provided by you, the individual and where necessary, verification of the said data provided by you may be conducted.
HOW DO WE USE YOUR DATA AND WHY:
Your data may be used for the following purposes:
- To enable our business purposes, such as developing new products and services, enhancing this website, improving our services, developing marketing events, identifying usage trends, and determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns. We may analyze aggregated demographic information and personal information for historical, statistical, or scientific purposes, or we may store the personal information for your convenience should you return to this website in the future.
- To send you important information regarding the website, its terms, conditions, and policies and/or other administrative information.
- To respond to your inquiries; collect your suggestions, and fulfill your requests, such as sending you e-mail alerts, and contact you to answer any questions to the extent possible.

KEEPING YOUR INFORMATION:
We retain your personal information for no more than is necessary, in accordance with the DTAJ2020. Once your personal information is no longer required, we will delete your personal information.
YOUR RIGHTS:
In accordance with the DTAJ2020 the issuer of the personal information has the following rights:
- The right to be informed about how your personal data is collected and used.
- The right to access your personal data; you may ask us to inform you on how your data is being held at MAL.
- The right to ask us to remove your personal data from our storage systems.
- The right to restrict and object to the processing of your data.
- The right to withdraw your consent if you have given consent to processing a particular part of your personal information.
- The right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner of Data Protection about how we have processed your personal data. (However, we ask that you contact us prior to lodging a complaint which would give us the opportunity to resolve the matter.)
COOKIES AND TECHNOLOGY:
A cookie is a small data file sent by a website to your computer that is stored on your hard drive when you visit certain online pages of our website. MAL uses cookies to store users' preferences and collect aggregated demographic data. Cookies allow the website to identify and interact with your computer (for example so we can remember your login details if you have opted to 'stay signed in'). MAL does not use cookies to retrieve information that was not originally sent by us to you in a cookie. With the use of cookies, we collect the following information: your IP address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages browser type, operating system, web pages visited. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY NOTICE:
This notice was last updated on November 2022. At MAL our policies are reviewed bi-monthly to keep abreast of any changes in relation to the data protection laws of Jamaica. Where there are any changes to our policies, MAL will publish the same on our website and where appropriate we will also notify you of the changes by other communication methods.
